When We Dead Awaken is a play by Norwegian dramatist Henrik Ibsen. The play's central theme is the meaning of life and confused expectations. The protagonist is a professor and famed sculptor, Arnold Rubek, who reunites with his former muse, Irene von Satow, on the setting of the Norwegian spa during the wintertime.
